Powder coating
Powder coating: the rack, the rework, and the job
A powder-coat job is priced by the part. Rework, a second coat, and the hooks that went around again are rarely on that price. They show up as a busy booth.
A part coated twice cost twice the booth time. The invoice still says once.
What the open job has to show
- Parts issued to the job.
- First pass and rework counted before the job closes.
- Color and powder lot on that run when the customer needs it.
That is the same kind of gap as seeing the work while it is still open and quoting from a current cost.
The week the record is late
A rack fails appearance. It is recoated on Friday. The job was invoiced on Thursday from the piece count, not from the booth time.
Keep the second pass on the job. MFGMAX Heavy Metals holds that record. Accounting can stay where it is. Other systems can connect. What moves, and when, is shown before you commit. This does not replace a required material test, a weld procedure, or an environmental permit.
Mark the week on Problems and Solutions, or read how integrations stay with the platform instead of replacing it.
Questions
What should stay on the open job?
Parts issued to the job. First pass and rework counted before the job closes. Color and powder lot on that run when the customer needs it.
When should the job be compared with the quote?
While it is still open. A count after invoicing explains a loss. It does not give the material or the hours back.
What does MFGMAX connect this to?
Keep the second pass on the job. This does not replace a required material test, a weld procedure, or an environmental permit.
